Wimbledon and Putney Commons Open Day 2025 (cancelled)

The Open Day has been cancelled for safety reasons:

We regret to advise that, after careful consideration, we have taken the incredibly difficult decision to cancel the Open Day on Sunday 14 September.

The forecast weather conditions — steady winds of 15-20mph, with gusts up to and over 30mph, and rain — pose too great a risk for this kind of event to proceed safely.

We are aware that we are erring on the side of caution, but with the forecast sitting uncomfortably close to a yellow weather warning that could easily shift, the risks are simply too high. The safety of visitors, stall-holders, entertainers and staff must take priority.

Join the annual day of fun and merriment on Sunday 14 September 2025 from 10.30am to 5.30pm, near the Windmill and the Ranger’s Office on Wimbledon Common.

The Open Day will have something of interest to everyone with craft and local business stalls, arena events to enjoy, funfair rides, donkey and tractor rides.

Join the Wombles Walk - a fun, family-friendly treasure hunt around the Open Day site - and find where all six members of the Wombles family are hiding.

Wombles fans will also be able to say hello in person to Madame Cholet who will make several appearances for selfies and photos throughout the day, inspiring visitors to pick up and recycle their litter and take pride in their local patch.

Arena events include birds of prey, wacky dog show and musical mats, riding displays from the Wimbledon Village Stables Household Cavalry, and Pedal Power vs Parkour.
