The Wombles 4 Album Box Set: The Complete Studio Albums
The Wombles’ four studio albums are being re-released as a CD box set in time for Christmas.
The 43-song box set will contain four CDs and four booklets of lyrics, and is priced at £29.99.
Mike Batt said on Twitter that they’re remastered exact replicas of the original albums, and the same mastering as the individual CDs released in 2011: “Didn’t want to bugger about further than that. I thought they sounded good…”
Mike added: “I was always miffed that album 4 was too late for the original [vinyl] box set. Now they are complete.”
The box set doesn’t include the Wombling Free film soundtrack, with Mike saying, “I don’t want to add a fifth disc, pushing the price up.”
With some fans asking whether there would be any bonus tracks, Mike explained: “I don’t want to spoil the authenticity of the original albums”, and “I don’t want to break the integrity/running order of the 4 albums”. But he said they might release a ‘curios’ collection another time with extras that weren’t on the original albums.
You can pre-order the CD box set from Amazon for release on Friday 25 November. It’s also available as an MP3 version, or on streaming services such as Apple Music, Spotify and Deezer.
Signed copies are available from Mike Batt’s website, for £31 plus £5.50 UK shipping (£9.50 to Europe, £12.50 to the rest of the world).
Mike warned: “Not being funny but we only have a certain number on order so make sure you get a pre-order in as soon as it’s announced.”

No it’s not a completist collection. Simply the 4 main albums. Not even the film album. Maybe we’ll do a separate disc with extras and rarities another time. I don’t want to spoil the authenticity of the original albums and i don’t want to add a fifth disc, pushing the price up

Fraid not Frederick. They are (remastered) exact replicas of the originals - each with a nice booklet. I was always miffed that album 4 was too late for the original box set. Now they are complete. We might do a “Curios” collection some time, with those 3 other tracks+more

It’s a simple collection of the four main “band” (as distinct from film) albums. We WILL put more curious and extra tracks out but I had always wanted to see a box set of all 4, not just the first 3 albums. I think it’s a handy little library. I know it’s not “complete”🙂
