Christmas is over and with lots of festive waste to dispose who should we call? Why, Elisabeth Beresford’s heroes of recycling of course!

Meet the Wombles who strive to “make good use of bad rubbish”, bring your own waste wrapping paper and Christmas cards along and recycle your waste into beautiful works of art.

With a unique opportunity to see original manuscripts and illustrations from Elisabeth Beresford’s Womble series of children’s books, straight from the Seven Stories archive. A fun-filled day of wombling stories, song and crafts.

Where: Seven Stories, The National Centre for Children’s Books, 30 Lime Street, Ouseburn Valley, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE1 2PQ

When: Saturday 6 January and Sunday 7 January 2018; booking required for 45-minute handling sessions at 11.15am, 1.15pm or 3.15pm

Cost: £1 per person booking fee for handling sessions; general admission to Seven Stories is £7.70 for adults, £6.60 for children, £2.50 for toddlers, or £23.10 or £27.50 for family tickets
