Haydon the Womble’s birthday

Haydon the Womble

On 26 August 2006, Haydon the Womble started work as the mascot for AFC Wimbledon football club. His first appearance was at a match against Boreham Wood FC.

He can be seen at every Saturday home game, wandering around the terraces, encouraging fans.

Haydon was named by The Wombles’ creator Elisabeth Beresford after Haydons Road railway station, the nearest station to the club’s old Plough Lane ground.
