Leicester Christmas lights
The Wombles are returning in the 2013 Christmas lights display in Leicester city centre.
The annual children’s tableaux, this year featuring The Wombles and Thomas the Tank Engine alongside a traditional nativity scene, will be in Town Hall Square throughout the Christmas season.
The Christmas Lights Switch On ceremony and procession - complete with live camels - is on Sunday 17 November, from 2pm to 5pm. For more details, see the Visit Leicester website or the Leicester Mercury.
The Wombles previously appeared in Leicester in 2008, as seen in this short YouTube video. Uncle Bulgaria and Madame Cholet joined Father Christmas and the Lord Mayor on stage to assist in turning on the lights.
